The Handmaid’s Tale

Last night I was trying out a few new ideas for hand drawn animations. I was also catching up on the latest episodes of the tv-show The Handmaid’s Tale so this is what I came up with.

A little about the process. The animation is basically just two frames interchanging. It’s all drawn and animated in Procreate using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.

I was very inspired by the powerful imagery of The Handmaid’s Tale. Watching that latest episode (season 3, episode 6) made my skin crawl and gave me a little flashback to some of the Leni Riefenstahl films I’ve seen while studying.

The last one here is more uplifting and just a little declaration of love to one of my favourite shoe brands Swedish Hasbeens (had my eye on these heart shaped ones for years).
