Birgitte
I love giving portraits as birthdays gifts and I’ve done quite a few over the last couple of years – both for myself and for others to give to their loved ones.
Last year in august I painted a picture of my dear (now former) colleague Birgitte for her birthday. She’s a fun and vibrant woman so I felt it called for a big splash of color. If you would like to commission a portrait og just know more about my work, please feel free to get in touch.
Here’s a little peek into the process.

The reference photo. It wasn’t the best quality but it worked well enough. Most times a photo taken with a phone will be good enough to work with.
Pencil sketch

Almost done. I used Angora watercolors for the painting. They’re not very expensive but still pretty great quality (I got mine here). I like to use quite big brush strokes and use a size 12 round brush for most of the portrait and smaller ones for details.
The finished result. And the best part was that she was really happy with it.
